Teaching

Bachelor and Master Degree Studies

Since 1997 the system of studies is based on credit points similar to ECTS (European Community Course-Credit Transfer System). It was designed to fulfill the following conditions:

  • All students should learn basics and foundations useful in different areas of computer science. Therefore there are eight lectures obligatory for all students, for example Logic in Computer Science, Algorithms and Data Structures, Discrete Mathematics.
  • It should be possible for students to choose lectures from as large number of possibilities as possible. In particular, there should be different advanced lectures each given only to a small fraction of all students.
  • The evolution of the taught material should keep up with the evolution of computer science. For example, it should be possible for the students at the fifth year to study subjects which did not exist when they were at the first year.
  • Each student should be allowed to choose his or her individual track of studies, as in computer science the set of possible specializations is numerous and diverse ranging from computer scientists, through programmers to system administrators.
  • Students should be enabled to finish the process of studies earlier with the degree of a Bachelor if for some reasons they cannot or do not want to finish the whole 5 years Master track.
  • Economy should be taken into consideration. For example, optional lectures can be given every two or three years and be visited by students at different stages of their studies.

Holding to the above guidelines, our institute offers several programmes in computer science.

Most of the courses are in Polish but we are starting to teach in English too. For possibilities of studying in Wrocław see information at the WWW page of the University of Wrocław.

Exchange studies

We are a member of the Socrates-Erasmus Programme and welcome students from Europe and all over the world to take lectures in English in our Institute.

Ph.D. Studies

We offer a Ph.D. programme in Computer Science to foreign students.

Postgraduate programmes

We also teach teachers and offer the following courses (in Polish) for them:

  • in Education in Informatics,
  • in Informatics for teachers.
